One of my bullet journal pages is a “100 things I should do before 2019 Ends.” I got the idea from another bullet journalist and I thought it would be a great idea to try to accomplish. With that being said, one of my goals was to learn calligraphy.
So yesterday I received my very first oblique calligraphy pen! I have never used this kind of calligraphy pen before. When I was a kid I had a regular old Speedball calligraphy pen holder with a couple of nibs and a little bottle of ink. My friends and I would pretend to write secret scrolls, or write pretty letters in fancy calligraphy. Although, I’ve never stopped wanting to learn how to write using calligraphy. It’s a challenge for me because my writing is very sloppy and I am the world’s worst speller. However, I’m facing my fears, my inadequacies, and I am up to the challenge. I am prepared now with the right tools and spell check! (Spell check wasn’t around when I was a kid, don’t judge.)
I’m really excited about where this journey is going to take me because now I have so much more experience under my belt with writing, journaling, watercolor and all kinds of techniques that I have learned over the years that I have great expectations for my hand lettering and calligraphy. With the cold, wet weather, it is a perfect time to practice lettering and play with my inks.
