Bullet & Photo & Art Journaling Oh My!

Eurkea! I have discovered a way to make tiny photos to use in the bullet journal, turning it into a photo scrapbook and/or art journal.  It’s so simple, (it’s not really a secret).  Like most of us, we have tons of digital images either on our computer or phone.  I suggest transferring images to the computer to be sure of the resolution when doing this project.  Gather all the photos you will be using for your pages.  Save them in a folder so it’s easy to find.  Go to Walgreens Photo online and choose the collage button.  There you can select quite a few photos at least 10! These photos can be smaller than wallets!  It’s great because they are the right proportion for the typical A5 journal.  WOW.

With scrapbooking, the materials list can go on and on and on.  I prefer to keep things simple.  The most important materials I can suggest are as  follows:

• Pens
• Markers
• Colored Pencils
• Tombow Adhesive Tape Dispenser (Permanent)
• Various Patterned Scrapbook papers 6×6 in
• Rubber Stamps
• Ink pads
• Photos

Here are a few tips:

Use the adhesive tape, rather than glue sticks or other adhesives that are wet to avoid page wrinkling and tearing.  Same goes for using wet mediums like watercolor paint (unless you paint on watercolor paper and tape your image into the page.) Because you are working in bullet journals or journals with thinner pages, when adding layers of paper, photos, stickers etc. the pages become very thick and harder to turn.

If you have never scrapbooked before, here is an easy way to think about it. First, select the photos you want on the page.  Then collect the papers and images and the colors of pens, pencils that coordinate with your color scheme.  Now it is time to build your page.  Start by making the background.  Use your papers here. Then place your photos on the page that are visually pleasing to you. At this point, you add embellishments, doodles etc. Finally, add the text.  Whether it be used as a monthly, weekly, or daily layout. Or it can simply be used as an art journal page or traditional scrapbook page. Either way, it breaks up the journal and adds your unique creative touch plus yours photo memories!
